How to Find the Right Size Compression Garment
The single biggest reason compression wear disappoints is the wrong size.
A compression garment that is the wrong size will either do nothing (too loose) or become unbearable within an hour (too tight) — and sizing is the number one reason people write off compression wear after one bad experience.
Measure, Do Not Guess
Measure your chest at its widest point and your waist, then check the specific brand’s size chart — sizing varies significantly between brands, so your usual t-shirt size is not a reliable guide.
What Correct Compression Should Feel Like
Firm and snug everywhere, but you should still be able to breathe normally and raise your arms fully overhead. Any numbness, sharp pinching, or difficulty breathing means it is too small — size up rather than “breaking it in.”
When in Doubt, Size Up
Between two sizes, most people are better served sizing up, especially for all-day wear. A slightly less dramatic flattening effect you actually wear beats a more dramatic one you take off after twenty minutes.
